I remember the moment I received a standing ovation…my first standing ovation…while speaking from the stage…in front of a new live audience.
I had just finished sharing my story. I could see people perched on the edge of their seats, engrossed, slightly leaning towards me. I bet I even saw a tear here and there.
No, it was NOT a sad story. It was ‘a’ personal story that was vulnerable, authentic, and happy. A story that resonated with them so much that it could have been theirs and yet it was mine because it was unique in its own way. As I let the walls around me down, I let them (the audience) into my world. Without saying anything, I had said, “I trust you. I am OK for you to see the messy, imperfect human I am. I don’t always get things right but hey! It is OK. I welcome you into my world!” At that moment, I gave them permission to own their imperfections and uniqueness. I showed them that it was OK to let those walls down because they might keep us safe (or so we think) but they also keep us separated from our fellow humans.
I let them experience the deliciousness of the magic that gets created when we let people in our world through soulful connection.

Are you a coach who is brilliant at coaching but do not feel seen and heard by a large audience?
You probably believe that in order to be seen and heard, you must post on social media several times a day, be active in lots of Facebook groups, pursue the latest shiny object in the market or listen to the loudest marketing Guru. You also look for ‘proven systems and formulae’ that will help you convert prospects into paying clients and allow you to create the impact you set out to create through coaching.
Do you, like a lot of coaches, believe that ‘you suck at selling’; or find selling in conflict with your values of wanting to serve? You believe you can have one or the other: you can either sell or serve.
It is a constant and exhausting cycle of not making money, burnout, and self-doubt, all of which lower your worthiness quotient. People who could benefit from your solutions do not get the help they need and you do not get to build an income and impact.
There is only so much you can run without fuel, isn’t it?
No wonder, you stop seeing and hearing yourself!
The trouble with this approach is that it is not sustainable because you, the coach or the business owner, are chasing the clients. You are chasing them because (a) you are in a survival mode because your business does not seem to be working (b) The mean voice in your head gets louder and tells you that you are just not good enough as a business owner (c) you are scared that the impact and legacy that you wanted to build as a change-maker would not get fulfilled.
If you have ever been in a relationship, and have tried pursuing someone hard, you already know how well that works!
At best, you get friend-zoned or declined politely, at worst, they avoid you like the plague.
Don’t worry, I am not judging you. Trust me, you are in good company! 😁😁
It does not have to be like this.

I believe that my story is plain and boring. Will this course help me?
Yes, of course. We, and therefore our stories, are a sum of our life experiences. Our life experiences define us; some of them give us joy whereas some of them teach us the biggest lessons that help us grow as individuals.
One of the ‘comments’ I often get is, “But you have been through cancer. You know what it feels like when you face your mortality and are living as if there is no tomorrow. Nothing as big as cancer happened to me. How will my story be interesting to the listeners?”
Let me tell you this clearly: First, I am glad that cancer is an experience we don’t share! Second…Every life story is equally valid. We do not need to have overcome a life-threatening medical condition or a BIG atrocity to consider our stories worthy of sharing.
Helping people find the ‘extraordinary’ in what seems like an ‘ordinary’ story is my magic.
I worked with someone who believed that he had nothing interesting to share and that his life was plain boring. When we talked, I helped him see how his life had been a roller-coaster; how from living a secure life he got into a situation where he was living on the streets and how he could inspire millions of people with his decision of taking accountability for his life and building it back up. From ‘plain boring’, we transformed it into an inspiring story of ‘accountability’ and ‘resilience’.
